New Faces, Same Places

Well, here we go again with this big blog experiment! Any ideas or suggestions on how to make this better would be greatly appreciated. I was pleased with the response that I got this morning from my 2nd block class about this blog. Hopefully, this will give you guys a chance to voice your opinions. So, we finished up our first full week of class. How do you guys think it is going so far? Any ideas or suggestions of things we should do or cover in here? We finished the Lost activity today and I know it wasn't an enjoyable experience for everyone. I hope I have made my point about the importance of order and organization. If I haven't, I really don't know what else I could do to make my point. This is in activity that we will refer back to throughout the semester. Give me your guys opinion on the project. What did you learn from this project? How do you feel about people that are indifferent? Does it bother you like it bothers me? Why? I'll leave it at this for now, but expect much more as the semester moves on.

I thought the activity was a great idea. It was one that showed the very importance of an organized system, and every aspect from the ground up that makes it so stable.
Although ours wasn't that stable to begin with, I can honestly say we seemed to pull it together somehow. I got a 26 on it, even though the class had a 52, I think it was. OH SNAP! I forgot to turn that paper in! ><" Oh wait never mind, that's right. We turn it in on Tuesday.

Well anyway, I'd like to suggest that we do a similar activity like that often, like maybe once every 2 weeks or so? I bet more than anything that after a couple tries at it, everybody will be able to make quick and decisive decisions in making a stable form of order or type of government, whether it be small or big. I'm sure everyone else in the class will agree that it would not only be a fun idea, but it was also behoove us for the future and understanding just how stable a government needs to be.

So I really think you ask for suggestions WAY TO MUCH. I like the fact that you would like to know but as a student the only thing we really think of is NO HOMEWORK. As for the project, it was tiring trying to get everyone together, but people just wanted to get it over with, HONESTLY. The project showed the leaders, followers, and the ones who wanted to get drunk catch squirrels and freeze to death. But so long for now!

Enjoyed the Lost activity. Was a little embarrassed on how bad mine was compared to the experts. But had fun with it overall. I look forward to the rest of the nine weeks in your class and more blogs.

I enjoyed the lost activity to an extent. But as you said it definitely showed us a need for organization and government. I learned that there are some in our class that are are close minded and will argue with anything just to prove they are right in stead of listening and taking stock in what others have to say.
Granted, with 29 people in the class, I believe it would have been possible to take all of the 15 items and we wouldn't have had to worry about the importance of each. Ha.

So far I'm lovin the class. See you tomorrow.

I think you're doing a good job. Even though I think we would've been better off letting us tear each other appart because then we would've learned the lesson on our own instead of having it spoon fed to us. However, that is just my openion.

See you tomorrow.

The Lost activity was pretty cool... A little hectic, but once things were [mostly] organized, it wasn't too bad. At first, I was one of the people that was indifferent. The second day of the activity I chose to voice my opinion, and it actually helped, I guess, because my group was the first to say that the list needed to be changed. So far, I really like the class. Government has never really been an interest of mine, so maybe that will change as the semester goes on. As for suggestions, I don't really have any... yet. Maybe I'll think of something.
Hope you all had a good weekend.
See you guys tomorrow.

Your class so far has been the most interesting and fun class ive had so far this yr... yea i know it just started but still. The lost activity was a little crazy. But on the second day i think it went a little better and as far as the indifferent people, umm if they decide to sit back and let everyone else run the show then when the final conclusion is made then they have nothin to complain about because they didnt care. It will hurt them in the long run. You may think that i was one of the indifferent people but i do care im just shy. What i got from the activity is that you have to have organization and order to get things acomplished. You have to pull together as a team and give up some of your individual power.

"The project showed the leaders, followers, and the ones who wanted to get drunk catch squirrels and freeze to death."...That is one of the best quotes I think I have ever heard. But anyways, the first week went extremely smoothly and the class was the highlight of my day, each day! Mad props to our fearless leader, General Ramsey.

Of the whole first week, I don't think that any activity, notes, lecure, or anything was more important than the Lost activity. Like Olivia's quote stated, this activity really showed who is aggressive, who is passive, and who is a follower. The important part about learning how people can be different is that this concept applies to most things in this world. That is why this activity was so helpful; it's application to real life demonstrates an eternally accurate form that all social groups take on...

Going back to the bit about the aggressive, passive, and follower roles that I commented on earlier, I want to make sure that it is known that I believe that each of those types of people are needed to let a group prosper, work, and survive together. Too many people want to be aggressive now-a-days, which is part of this world's problem. Too many aggressors makes working together impossible. This same principle is true of passivists (If no one cares, who will be able to form ideas and take the head controls when needed) and if too many people are just followers, our actions can as complex as that of a sheep's.

So, to sum up my idea, the organization shown in this group activity is much like a human body, if the balance is not perfect, breakdowns and malfunctions will start to occur. The decimation of the body (or group) will leave a controlless, apathetic group of lifeless followers. Doesn't appeal to many does it?...

I thought the LOST activity really proved that having some type of leadership is necessary to get anything accomplished. Overall i really like the class.

so, your class is definately my favorite so far and i'm sure it will stay that way. the Lost activity was pretty wild but once we got a little organization things seemed to go better. although during the activity i realize i could not survive on my own. oh well, no suggestions just yet. i'll let you know when i get any.

see you all tomorrow :)

I think the Lost activity was a excellent idea. The activity greatly pointed out how we need organization and stability. If we did not have that I think it would be one big headache like the activity.
Also I would like to say that I think your going to be a great teacher. I also hope that homework is going to be this easy.
