A stroll through the mind of Ramsey
I figured that while I am sitting here watching the Mets destroy the Phillies that I would go ahead and post the sequel to my first blog. I am happy with the responses to the first blog and I hope you all continue to participate and make this fun. I don't want you guys to focus solely on what I write. My opinions are simply that, opinions, and they are not the only ideas out there. I would like you to read my thoughts and the thoughts of others and to respond to both. My goal for this blog, once again, is to create a community and a place to exchange thoughts and ideas. On that note, I think you all did a tremendous job with the classroom discussion today. I know I am not the greatest teacher, but my goal is to be the best teacher I possibly can be, and I hope that this activity will make my classroom more effective and meaningful. I take it personal when my students fail because their failure is a direct reflection of my teaching ability. I may joke around a lot, but make no mistake about it, I take my job seriously. I believe in what I teach and I believe that I have a great group of students to teach. Days like today encourage me as a teacher and means a heck of a lot to me personally as well. I want you all to have fun, but I want you to learn and grow as well. We had wonderful discussions in all three classes today and I left Science Hill feeling like we accomplished something. I was thrilled to see so many of you take this activity seriously and discuss the issues with both knowledge and passion. I'm not really going to specify exactly what questions I want you to answer in this blog, but I am instead going to open it up to you to direct the discussion. I want you to discuss with each other, not me. Remember, attack the issues, not each other!!!! I will not tolerate any student that is disrespectful (but I don't think that will be a problem with this group). Did anything we discussed today in class have an effect on you? What did you agree or disagree with and why? Discuss today or anything else relevant among yourselves. I will try and post responses as well. Thank you all for being such great students!!! You will truly be a memorable senior class to me. Until next time, you stay classy Science Hill seniors!!

I am glad we had our first debate today. I think that allowing guns on campus is a very controversial issue. It is a shame that college campuses are becoming the sites of mass murder. It is no wonder that America is the developed country with the greatest rate of persons in prison. I disagree with having guns on campus. I still believe that gun should not be allowed on campus. I do not believe that it would make a difference in a crisis because they happen so fast. I think that the misuse of guns could be a major problem because of the erratic (and sometimes lewd) behavior of college students. I say having a on campus police response team at major universities would be a better idea. Other security implemets would be great on campus. I had heart-felt shock about the class of third graders that planned to kill their teacher. It is premeditated attempted first degree murder. I think they should be tried as adults. They are showing telltale signs of being criminals at such a young age and should face the consequences of their actions. MY WHAT THE WORLD IS COMING TO! By the way Coach Ramsey, thanks for the compliments. We will miss you!

I really enjoyed the debate we had on Wednesday! It was not only fun, but we really had some good opinions thrown around. I think that universities shouldn't waste money on testing to determine whether a student is sane enough to carry a handgun to class. If everyone had a gun, more issues would arise than would be solved. It would just cause more problems. Plus, in the case of an emergency, people might just get scared and start shooting anyone they see. I don't think it's a good idea that students carry guns. Honestly, I can't remember the other topic we discussed...sorry. But I do hope we debate again soon. It really is a learning experience.
I really enjoyed the debate on Wednesday. But I will always feel that there is absolutely no reason for a student to carry a gun onto a school campus. Teachers, being responsible adults, should be allowed to posess a weapon, which should only be used if absolutely necessary. I feel that by allowing students to carry guns on campus, the government is fueling the fire. By giving students a readily available weapon to use, it makes the liklihood of injury much greater.
I am a very conservative guy, as it seems that everyone could tell that. I don't give a damn what these liberal people think about gun control, because they should be keeping themselves busy with trying to legalize homo marriages and marijuana. The fact of the matter is that students are being killed by lunatics on campus, and they don't even see it coming. Giving guns to professors as well as some students could very well help this problem. End of Story.
First of all, you should have been watching the greatest baseball team. GO CUBBIES!!! haha, complete sweep of the mets?!?!? oh yes. Secondly I enjoy the reflections and the discussions in class. It relates to life as we live it and gives us a chance to look into our own lives and pull ourselves out! Great class.
