I have had a few accusations the past week and a half of being self centered. This is the farthest thing from the truth, and if I know one thing it is the truth. I don't know if I have told a lie my entire life, so the truth just comes naturally to me. Anyway, how has the first week and a half of class been thus far? I am excited about all three of my classes this semester and I hope you all feel the same. What do you think about the activities we have done so far (Lost, koala bear, ketchup on a spoon, etc...)? Have you learned anything from this or has it been a complete waste of time? How did people not caring or participating in the LOST game make you feel? It can be frustrating when you care about something and no one else does. I hope you see the value of order and organization and the need for government. If this doesn't prove my point then I don't know what will! Well, I will leave it short today and I will close with a couple of quotes from the game!
Czar Ramsey out!!!
Quotes:
- "How you gonna make fire with a flashlight?" - someone in first block
- "Good God, thank you Eleanor!" - someone in first block apparently mistaking Eleanor for God
- "with syrup you can just rub it on your neck..." - thanks for the insight in 1st block
- "Suck it up and have a better immune system!" - I think Cody in 1st said this
- "Raise your hand if you love TuPac"
- "SHUT UP!!!! I raised my HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!" -Jill
- "can I phone a friend?"
- "Cover yourself in maple syrup and stab a squirrel." - Jeremy's plan for food!
- "We just built a telephone to call you so give us the answers"

First comment! As of when I'm writing this! I'll probably be wrong about that somehow, but whatever. I guess I should make it meaningful. Anyway, about your activities and such... I can definitely see the points you are trying to make and teach us through games and activities and all that. It makes a lot of sense. It's a really different teaching style that manages to be really fun and amusing but still informative, or something like that. I kind of wish more teachers were like that. It makes for an interesting and fun filled class but you still tend to get something out of it, you know? It's probably more effective for more people. I think fewer people have the patience and drive to put up with Mr. Boring Lecture Notes Teacher Guy. Some people can learn from that (I can) but it's still not as fun anyway...
Also, I think I've been laughing the most in my day during your class. If not, well, it's pretty close.
With the LOST game... eh. It's lame to see people not care, but then there are always people in classes who never participate in anything, or they're really quiet, or whatever. I figure that's kind of unavoidable. You can try to make a person care but you can never really force them to, can you? In a real world situation, uninformed people comprising our civilization is bad, though. Clueless voters deciding our future, huh? I can't say the world would be a better place if every single one of us was an intelligent, well-informed individual though... in fact that could potentially be chaotic. I'd have to think about that more.
I guess I've essayed up your comment box enough now! That's all I've got to say.
I think this class is going to be fun. Has been so far. Everything that has been taught was interesting in some form or another. The LOST project was fun because it was something new and different. You don't just get study guides. It's better that way. The project was also fun because you got to hear others argue, and to see people back up their arguments was even more interesting. I don't know if half the class watches Man vs. Wild or what, but there were some pretty smart ideas popping up. Jeremy's plan to cover ourselves with maple syrup to attract squirrels is ingenious as well as comical. But in the end I realized that governments are needed for more organization. Things get pretty hectic without. In class there were people literally shouting out to get heard, it's sad really. So if we form a plan and go step by step, things seem to go a whole lot smoother...btw this was a easy homework assignment. Lol.
okay well....i just realized i left a comment on the wrong blog, but yeah you should just read it because i made this nice speech about the lost game and government
i find life is much more enjoyable when you're at least a little bit self centered, but for the record i would attribute the accusations to people being insecure around your awesomeness.
also, even though I've only been @ school for half of the 2nd term so far, I'm really enjoying 3rd period. after we organized into 3 groups with representatives things went much smoother. i looked away from the board for a second and when i looked back, all 15 items had been filled out. I'm totally looking forward to these last nine weeks of high school in Ramseytopia.

Czar Ramsey!
So i think that the class so far has been quite awesome. i have enjoyed pissing you off everyday, one way or another. hahaha. ANYWAY. but i dont know about the whole "self-centered" thing, but you are awesome.
i really enjoyed the activities we have done. by the way mr. perfect, it was a fork, not a spoon with the whole ketchup thing.
the LOST game was VERY frustrating but 1st period got through it ok i guess. AND i would fail miserably in that situation. i really could have killed some of the people and the ridiculous arguing with all the different opinions like its gonna kill them if they dont have it their way. its not all about compromising, but it is... kinda. you have to agree, but not completely murder anyone over it. and also, everyone should care.
well im done ranting i think.
later Czar.

I definitely see the connection between the LOST game and the need for government. Even though the decision to move away from unanimous votes took power away from each person, we were able to finish the game much more quickly that way. It was a good introduction to a government class because it highlighted the importance of having a system of government when working with a large group of people.
Eh, being self-centered has its positives and negatives... as I'm sure you know. It's all good though, I'm pretty sure everyone likes it.
I will admit... even though I pretty much completely ruined your Koala Bear example for a life lesson in government, I do like what you're doing with the class. I think it gives everyone a better grasp as to why these things are needing to be taught to us instead of just that simple, "WHY are we learning this?!" - Jilly Lilly :)
As far as the LOST game goes, it's extremely frustrating to me. It's like... the people who disagree with everything are often the ones who won't speak up so how can we get anywhere if not everyone will voice their opinions? I guess that's partly why we did it though, to learn about how a government system works internally too. It's truly difficult. That's for sure.
This is one of my favorite classes so far. You have some weird ways of explainin government stuff but its cool. I liked the LOST game and the other stuff but not the ketchup. It wouldve been better with bbq sauce, thats just me though. The LOST game got outta hand when they started makin the graphs and what not. Yea, but neways ur class is pretty cool and i probably won't talk much but i'll enjoy it.
Hey, I think this is the first class that i haven't fallen asleep in for more than 10 mins. I really enjoy it, I love your lies, I see through everyone of them =P. I'm hoping that the rest of the year will be just as interesting. (I'm going to start keeping tally of how many times i fall asleep... hrmm.) Anyway, I love your class, you're very different compared to other teachers. I really like it better rather than having to deal with the lectures, but even your lectures are interesting, because most of the time we can tell you are full of.... nevermind.

Out.
One thing I have to say is that the constant noise of the "basket ball" game is annoying. At first I didn't the relation of the LOST game to government until it was pointed out. California is a nice place to live, if you happen to be an orange.
hey ramsey!!!
your class is definitely my favorite. you make the class interesting. the LOST game was frustrating but atleast we figured it out. and your not self centered, your the coolest person. its hard to tell when your lying and not...
Ramsey,
The first couple weeks of this class has been a blast! I am definitely going to tell my friends that they need/have to take your class next year. This class is going to be soo much fun, it already has been! I love all of the activities that you have done because i am more of a visual learner rather than a book learner. This class has NOT been a waste of time, it has been educational and at the same time you incorporate fun stuff. The people not caring about the game did frustrate me. Although i didnt get as into it a jeremy and jilly lilly.. i did contribute some.
Coach Ramsey
well class has been pretty good so far. I have to be honest with you all the people I have talked to about taking your class have told me you do not believe in tests...but you keep talking about test questions and tests coming up. whats that about?
honestly, the LOST game just wasnt for me, ill skip out on any trip going somewhere with artic weather. I understand the whole connection between the importance of government and organization...but if you had just told me without the giant group activity, i would have believed you anyway. I just got really frustrated. other than that class is pretty awesome!

This is one of my favorite classes iv ever been in so far. Iv only been in class for one of the games which was the LOST game. It got kinda crazy with that big graph but i see how it relates to the government. You definantly make the class fun with all the crazy video clips you show. But i definantly like everything about the class.
haha i like shomakers quote
I don't think you're self centered; rather very sure of yourself. But anyway, I definately saw the lesson in the lost game. But as far as people not caring goes, I think just because someone doesn't say anything doesn't mean they don't care. Once we broke up into smaller groups people were much more willing to speak up. Just from the first two weeks I think I'm going to enjoy this class because its rare that I look forward to any class.
so far i would say the activities we have done have been good. I really like how you get your points across in a way thats not so boring. Every part of school is certainly not going to be exciting, but there never seem s to be a dull moment in this class. The LOST activity was fun, but definatly frustrating as well. i won't really say that i got too badly frustrated with those who didn't care but more with the fact that some became too impaatient and difficult to work with. Its really hard to get a point across when everyone thinks their ideas are correct. However, overall i don't think we did too bad working together as a class.
I thought the LOST activity was extremely frustrating before we split into three groups. Then it was just normal frustrating. Its hard to get people to listen when everyone is shouting and everyone has different ideas. Of course I wish everything had gone my way and everyone had seen my points and gone for my answers. But scores don't lie. It was better when people were willing to compromise. I never thought much about how government actually makes everything so much easier; this activity really made me think about how life would have been without a government.
I think "self-centered" is completely out of the question - Coach Ramsey is just awesome! The LOST game was clever because it was basically impossible to control unless the class somehow found a semi-productive way to finish it. Although 1st period was apparently a disappointment because we did not elect a dictator immediately or fight with each other over hand axes and maple syrup, I think we did what we could with what we have!
I hae enjoyed the first couple of weeks and I hope that the rest of the semester is fun as well!
ramsey ur jokes r not funny! ya man $E-Money$
i really enjoy this class so far and i think we'll learn alot about government. the lost game was.. interesting. it related to government because it taught us the need for an organized system. o & stop lying!
well...I really ejoy the class thus far it seems like it's going to be alot of fun and hopefully I get to learn alot about government.I liked the activities they really do help but sometimes they get a little bit out of hand :)
Ya jokes aint funny...ya man $E-Money$
This class is off to a decent start, I think. I love that we spent a week learning about what we are going to learn about in this class. Haha, that and watch videos from your computers. I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to the next 7 and a half weeks in here.
Cody Ryans
okay so yeah...this class is...well cool.
The lost game was fun but also frustrating because we didn't know what to do at first but we eventually got through it. I think that the koala bear idea was pretty awesome! peace out!~
Ramsey.
I just don't know what to think about you. One day you're cracking jokes at me and the next you're force-feeding me ketchup.
WHAT'S THE DEAL?!
But don't worry, I can handle it.
Peace.
I think that lost was interesting. i think people who didn't get there way got very angry. this class is fine.
the class so far has been interesting. LOST was pretty cool except for that graph, it was a waste of time.
You do seem a little vain sometimes. It's something I can accept though. And I think you're lying about telling the truth. I don't trust you.
I joke. The first week has made me glad that this is one of my last classes in high school, especially for my first period. I'm so glad I start the day with this class. I have really enjoyed the activities we have done in here. Ketchup on a spoon was really funny, and I think the koala bear thing was one of my favorite things my teachers have done.
I have learned plenty through our graphic organizers and the weird ways you try to help us remember things. The game Lost is going to help me understand the government a lot better, even though I really hated playing. It was very frustrating in many different ways. I wanted to avoid conflict but at the same time I wanted to get a good score. We should have voted to overthrow the rules and the whole game completely.
On a different note, you should definitely post again asap.
The lost game was chaotic. It calmed down some after we established a goverment. i guess i like this class.
Casey wishes he was as cool as Coach Ramsey!
the lost game: it was much easier to hear more people's opinions when we split up into smaller groups, when you have a chance to explain without people talking in the background.
I definitely like your teaching style, because it's so different from most teachers. It's fun but gets to the point as well.
I really love your class so far..it's much better than government was. The whole ketchup spoon feeding thing was a really good exapmle of how things usually go when it comes to learning and high school.
Hey Coach Ramsey...sorry this is late. So far, I have really been enjoying your class! Im not gonna lie, at first some of your activities appear to have no point, but i always learn something from them in the end. The LOST activity was the most interesting to me so far but i did find it frustrating to do the activity with everyone having to agree on each decision. After we made the decision to make every vote be majority rules...it was alot easier to complete the activity. I look forward to your class everyday and the activities you have "planned" for us. haha... =P
I think, actually I know, this is by far my best and most interesting class. Ramseytopia is the land of the awesomeness. With the number A in our notes as good example of this. Remember all i raised my HAAAAAAANNNNNNNDDDDDD!
I don't think I can read all of that. It's a lot of words. And work. You should get an RSS feed for updating. That would make it a lot easier to read. And just to see if I can insert links.
Ramsey! This class is awesome man. Although I still like you hanging with the german 3 class alot more. But speaking of government i went to the source this weekend but i did not get to see our government system in action. I went to Senator ALexanders office and was able to catch him there even though they are on recess right now.
Glen you are a jerk. I knew that was coming, but you're STILL a jerk.
Glen- You dork! You didn't even respond to the correct post. Anything you've said does not count. :P HA! What now?!
