The Jerk

Well, we will give this a try again. I really don't know why I didn't do this last nine weeks but I'll attempt it with you guys. If this is the most homework you guys receive you really shouldn't have any complaints. So, we are through with our first week of class. How do you think it is going so far? My first period claims that I am a jerk but I don't think that's the case. We took a couple of days to play the survival game last week. Do you see the significance of that activity as it relates to our class? What are some things you learned or at least thought about pertaining to government through this game? Was it a complete waste of time? I hope I have made my point regarding the importance of government through this activity. Anyway, I look forward to a great nine weeks and I look forward to hearing from you all.

Czar out!

P.S. Some of my favorite quotes from the past week!
  • "We should do this activity outside to make it more realistic" -Moses Greene
  • "...at least our pockets will be purified" - not sure who said it!
  • "Who is the weakest link, they have to be up front?" -Andrea Keesecker laying down the law in first period
  • "Let's just get drunk and catch stuff on fire!" -someone from 2nd block coming up with ideas for the rum and the matches.
  • "Bear Grilles dug a hole...in the snow!" -another 2nd block quote
  • "Raise your hand if you love Jesus!" -Damien Goforth trying to get people to vote with him. It was pretty slick.
  • "We need to ditch the matches and just snuggle." -a suggestion from someone in 3rd block.
  • "It's only a fifth....and I'm not sharing!" -not sure who, but third block once again.
  • "I'm trying to get point....I'm just making noise!" -at least Michelle Bunting is honest!
  • "Do fish come to maple syrup?" -a mind boggling question from my 3rd block, I think it was Taylor Pruitt.
  • "Start a giant forest fire...people will come." -Brandon Marquis' suggestion for getting rescued.
  • "What are we going to do with a razor, shave a bear?" -3rd block, unknown.
  • "They aren't Jesus snowshoes...you can't walk on water." -a nice observation from someone in 3rd block.

SO far I think its going well but I don't have much hope for the future. The surviver challenge taught me a large part of how important government is because the first day I was seconds from jumping out a window. This worthwhile experience gave me a whole new level of respect for government. I'm certain that if government were to collapse the number of suicides would increase drastically due to the chaos and disorder similar to the kind I was forced to endure during the exercise. If I`m forced to do more group work with these people I will either: 1 take hold of the situation and lead this rag tag group or 2 I'll hide in my back pack. Your kind of forward but I hardly see you as a jerk. Hopefully that opinion of Czar Ramsey will stick through the nine weeks.

Yay! I'm the first person to comment. Or at least I think I am. Anyway, I have decided to withdraw my previous comment about the jerk thing so the Czar can quit whinning about it. I feel like the game was a cool way to deal with government and it definatly proved a point. Chaos sucks. In a nutshell: the game was stressful but informative. One of my favorite parts was all the crazy things people ended up saying and Taylor, I don't think fish eat syrup.

hey! i like the class so far and think it's really going great... i'm looking forward to being in your class for the next 8 weeks. i personally didn't like the game but i got why you made us do it... it really does help show the importance in how we had to work together to get the game over with lol...

First period is always the hardest no one is awake and its getting closer to graduatio so we as seniors are ready to go but the "The Jerk" Czar Ramsey makes first period and school a little more exciting!!! So about the survivor game it was tight and entertaning it did show me the importance of some sort of government without it we are in another world of confusion. But its ten thirty time for a shower and hot bubble bath no homo ill halla at everyone tomorrow halla dolla =)

Im enjoying Government class so far and I'm pretty sure it will be fun the rest of the nine weeks. About the game I didn't really like it because nothing was organized and besides I did not participate because im kind of a shy person so I just like to hear what others say. Anyways, I thought that the game was a great way to teach us how the goverment works and also to see how Coach Ramsey suffers with all of us, even thou I did not like the game. I'm looking foward to have more fun in Coach Ramsey's class. By the way Czar Ramsey is an awesome teacher!

I dont think this class is a complete epic fail at all. I have enjoyed myself this past week. I would rather you make the class interesting and be just called a jerk then be an actual jerk and do nothing fun in class. I do however think that the LOST game was a complete fail but not in a sense that I didnt learn anything because I did. I just thought we did a horrible job of organizing it. But Im not gonna lie i think this class is gonna be fun and that this nine weeks is gonna be the best in terms of government (if that makes any sense). and another thing im pretty sure what ed said is just creepy but probably true. its hard to work with our class cause some people cant stay focused. but im pretty sure its just gonna take a while for everyone to actually open up and pay attention.

so far i think its pretty good lots of fun and not to boreing... i really enjoyed the activity i like when we get to learn and it is not all out of the text book and worksheets that way i stay awake and actually get something out of the lesson.. i got that the significance of the activity was to learn that govrn. is important and with out rules and guide lines nothing can be accomplished... i dont think it was a complete waste of time although people would get so mad if there was a little bit more help in the intructions...

This might sound really stupid, but I just got back from fishing and I tried dumping maple syrup into the river....and it actually worked. I caught 7 fish in like 45 min. Anyway, I thought this game was fun but also very frustrating. And now I see how hard it is to form a government.

By the way...Maple syrup should have been #1

I did see the importance of the LOST game even though I didn't have too much to say half the time. It was not a waste of time because it helped us become stronger as a whole and understand each other. On the other hand, as a teacher, I find you are very passionate about what you do and you make it fun; you're class isn't stuffy or uptight like other social studies courses are. Furthermore, you're young which means we can relate to you; this creates a comfortable classroom experience with no fear of expressing ourselves. As a student, I look forward to what's in the future.

I see no hope in the future, and yes you are a jerk. I suppose the activity was somewhat pertinent, although I disagree with the experts. Screw those pansies. Getting to the point though, yes the activity taught me that government is essential for structered living. Now that im done blogging, i suppose ill tell u a story.
It all started one wintery eve in the summer of 93'. Josh and I were sitting around a rather cozy fire in our ivory fireplace, smoking our fine pipes of mahogany, the usual gentlemen activity. I forget to mention, we were doing so while on a safari, and this all went down in our british colonial mansion located deep within the African saringetti. We had done this many times before, but this time...it was different. Upon finishing our 5th pipe of the evening, a musk ox the size of the shoe that old lady and her kids live in in that children's story, bashed through our ornate gilded front doors. We werent the least bit surprised, until several small children emerged from his mouth. Each one weilding a bow staff, the lads proceeded to advance upon our inocent bathrobed, chiseled, bods of the gods, selves. Little did they know, Josh and I installed a anti-children pit fall the previous evening made from the finest....stuff. Anyway they all died and we continued to enjoy our fine pipes and enticing fire.

So.... out of everything that happened this week i think everyone has been informed I CASSANDRA ELLIOTT am pointless to the cause of everyone's life, AND if i were to run the governement we would be so far into the ground that we would all die anyways. ALSO, i would fail at life if i were to ever get lost in the wilderness beacuse i scored the worst of EVERYONE on the wilderness game. and WAMZ you are offically the coolest jerk i hate....

but on a serious note...
i love the class so far. hopefully i wont fail the first test, (so says wamz). i enjoy the activities, and everything we do.... i suppose... jk jk

Ramsey, if you're a jerk at least you're Czar Jerk, right? I think the game successfully proved how absolutely screwed we would be without a good organized government and decision making process. I think it was hilarious that we would all probably survive better on our own though. I think we could combine Andrea's comment and the one below hers. We can find the weakest link and set them on fire. Then we'd have heat, one less obstacle, and the air plane could see us from overhead.
I liked working with the group. At least I know if we ever did get lost in the Arctic (or Canada or whatever) I would be laughing as I died from hypothermia or starvation. Ed, if you hide in your backpack who's going to let you out?
Great blog, Your Awesomeness.

So far I think the class is going great. I don't think you are a jerk, as a matter of fact I think you are pretty cool. The survival game was fun and I am glad that the 4 years of ROTC actually taught me something. It was nice being able to lead a class that's not ROTC related. The game did a good job of teaching us the importance of a government and how without it we would get nowhere.
LONG LIVE RAMSEYTOPIA, SIEG HEIL CZAR RAMSEY!

It's going real good. The game showed that we have to have structure in our society or it will be chaotic. No, it was a real good activity and you should do it every year.

I think that we will learn alotand the game will help us learn about government and other life skils.

I SHOULD HAVE BEEN LEADER!!!!!!! i think this class will be fun.

Anonymous said...

Of course i love spending the wee hours of the morning with you WAMSS!! couldn't think of a better way to start off the day!I liked the LOST activity! I noticed how important it is to have a leader or just a few people in charge. When everyone talks its just chaotic and the more people standing at the front of the room the more i wanted to put my head down.

i commented before...di i do it right??

I love how the class has been very productive but yet very relaxed and fun. It is nice to have a "fun" class. The LOST game was.....interesting to say the least. It was a good way to show us the importance of government, teamwork, and the views of a teacher. However, I was ready to bash my head against the wall be people wouldn't shut up and work together in the begining. But we came though. This class has not as bad as I thought it was going to be. LOL!

hey i just want to say that i think the class is great and it's only because our teacher is full of awesomeness lol, but i got the reason for the lost assignment i didn't necessarily like it much but it helped me to understand government a little more.....and by the way your not a jerk VERY forward about things but defenitly not a jerk, oh and some of your jokes are pretty lame but i guess your just not that funny ha ha jk!

The survival game deff. gave me a headache with all the yelling but at least my class did the best and we wouldn't all die. I don't think it was a waste of time and i realized after it was over how it does really relate to government. maybe i should of ate that mayo and would of realized that earlier :)

I think this class is doing absolutely great so far... I do not think your a "jerk" Coach Ramsey, but I do understand why some people do call you a jerk, HAHA. The survival activity we played was pretty cool, I thought it was a very unique and a creative way of expressing your personality and most importantly, introducing the significance of government. Our class definitely needed some kind of government system to help make our decisions not so chaotic. I think we should do class activity situations like that more often.

hey ramsey! well so far i like the class. your random stories about kicking your aunts cat through the air and you dog bitting $you keep it interesting. and btw i still want to see the pic of your girl

Who would call you a jerk??? Dude you are hilarious and you are my favorite teacher...im not even joking, cause i dont joke about this kind of stuff. I thought that you actually made the class more entertaining and it was easier to understand everything you taught because you actually cared and you were very enthusiastic about the topics. Anyways...they suck. you rock..schools sucks..but just wanted to say hey and that i'll bring your mt. dew later on this week. ;).

Coach ramsey, so i thought this game was pretty fun. I took it a bit more literal than compairing it to government, but I do see how you need to have some sort of a system to agree on things. In government you cant just yell and scream to try and make your point valid. I also see how you have to relenquish power. Anyways...you should get on C.O.D. later and we can kill some fools
